Euro NCAP Crash Test of a Tesla Model S

Here’s the Euro NCAP crash test of a Tesla Model S.

I’m not an expert in interpreting crash test results – but I’ve watched quite a few of these for different cars – and this looks pretty good to me.

There are a couple of caveats in the detailed notes that accompany the video on YouTube – apparently the passenger airbag wasn’t calibrated properly from the manufacturer – leading to a rating of “adequate” for passenger head protection – although Tesla say this fault has now been rectified on all cars supplied to the public.

If you check out the Euro NCAP results table for 2014 – it places the Model S inĀ 16th position.

Clearly, standards are rising all the time, with Mercedes performing very strongly at the moment with 3 out of the top 4 places in the 2014 results.
